Syahril Sangadji earned his B.A. from the Catholic Parahyangan University in Bandung, West Java. With the support from the Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP), he finished his Master’s degree in Communication and Development studies at Ohio University, Athens. He now teaches at the North Maluku Muhammadiyah University in his hometown. With his colleagues, he established Lembaga Survey and Kajian (LSK) or Survey and Study Institute. Sangadji grew up in a kind of religious conflict environment in his hometown. Indeed, this situation ripened his open-minded perspective in viewing people without any discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, gender, etc. As a Muslim, instead of continuing his education to an Islamic university, he chose to study in the Catholic P [ ... ]
